2020 State wrestling results

Senior Brandon Backues earned 6th place at State wrestling. He went into the tournament with a 39-1 record and ended with a 41-4 record. He lost a tough deciding match on Friday night to be put into a consolation bracket on Saturday. After suffering from an injury early in the morning, Backues took 6th place in his weight class.
Junior Brant Aulbur earned 3rd place at State wrestling. He finished his season with a 31-12 record. He lost in the quarterfinals to be put into a consolation round semi-final. He got to the 3rd place match by injury default. He won 4-2 in overtime.
Also, on the first day of State, senior Will Kuster earned his 150th win. Unfortunately, his season was ended short due to a broken ankle.
Overall, the Jays wrestling team got 9th as a whole.
Congratulations to all of the Jays who went to State and a special congrats to our medalists.
