Lady Jays: Unstoppable

Rylie Bohanan, Section Editor

The Jefferson City Lady Jays basketball team has had a very successful season so far. They are currently 21-0 and have won all 3 of the tournaments they have attended. Head coach Brad Conway believes that the biggest factor in their success is their experience.
“We have 6 players who played significant minutes last season,” Conway states.
“We have been working super hard as a team in practice and on the weekends to get to where we are, and it really is paying off,” varsity captain, Micah Linthacum, replies when asked what she believes aids their success. She also feels that the team’s chemistry and bond helps with their success.
“We are always looking out for each other and have each other’s backs.”
The Lady Jays spend a lot of time on the court together. They practice up to 6 days a week.
“In practice we have been focusing on getting a lot of shots in, defense and just preparing for the next opponent. We focus on practice to practice and game to game,” Conway says.
For the rest of the season, Conway is focusing on keeping the team solid and at its peak for every game and hoping it carries on to postseason.
“Our ultimate goal is to win state for class 5. We have the pieces to make it happen, and now we just need to keep working to get better everyday,” Linthacum states.
The Lady Jays next home game is on February 19 against Incarnate Word Acadamy.
