Schwandtner is ranked fourth on the team and this was her first year going to state. The previous year Schwandtner was ranked last and worked her way up to 13th before the end of the season. This year, Schwandtner was ranked sixth in the beginning of the season and worked her way up fourth.

Dunn and Schwandtner played two doubles matches at state; neither one of them qualified for a singles match. They lost the first match 4-8 against Parkway Central, then lost 1-6 in the second match against Rock Bridge.

“I was upset at first, but we were playing the best of the best and I was just excited to even made it to state,” Schwandtner said.

Patrick and Meyer lost both of their doubles matches. In the first match the score was very close. The girls had high hopes for the first match, but ended up losing 5-8 to Ft. Zumwalt East. The last match they played Lee’s Summit West losing 1-6.

“The main points I kept in mind while going to state was staying positive and giving all I have,” Patrick said.
